Cailie Burns
Cailie Burns directs a thriving constituent engagement program, which is charged with development and community engagement. She oversees the Office of Biomedical Advancement to connect The Warren Alpert Medical School and Program in Biology alumni, parents, families, and friends in longstanding and rewarding relationships with Brown.

Michele Cyr, MD
Dr. Cyr is responsible for the recruitment, appointment, retention, and promotion of faculty members across the Division of Biology and Medicine. She oversees the Office of BioMed Faculty Administration; the Office of Women in Medicine and Science; Continuing Medical Education; and the Office of Faculty Development. She is also a professor of medicine and internal medicine physician.

Kimberly Galligan, MBA
Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Strategy, Chief Operating OfficerKimberly Galligan is the chief operating and financial officer of the Division and the principal liaison with our affiliated hospitals and health care partners, responsible for extensive health affairs leadership and strategy. She oversees the administrative offices of the Division: Communications; Finance and Planning; Facilities Planning and Operations; Human Resources; Research Administration; the Center for Animal Resources and Education.

Star Hampton, MD
Senior Associate Dean for Medical EducationDr. Hampton oversees all programs and services related to undergraduate medical education at The Warren Alpert Medical School. This includes a complex education enterprise that spans student life, student inclusion and diversity, curriculum, educational improvement, and admissions. Dr. Hampton is also a professor of obstetrics and gynecology and medical science in the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.

Kelly Holder, PhD
Dr. Holder is the inaugural chief well-being officer for the Division of Biology and Medicine and is responsible for promoting well-being as a core competency for students, faculty, and staff. She serves in an advisory and supportive role to the Division by offering timely and progressive interventions to improve well-being by impacting local culture, systems, policies, and environment.

Christine Huntley, JD
Chief of StaffChristine D. Huntley is the Chief of Staff to the Dean for the Division of Biology and Medicine and oversees a wide range of executive and project support, advancing and coordinating the work of the Dean and Dean's leadership to promote strategic priorities and the four pillars of the academic mission of the Division of Biology and Medicine. Christine has a Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law and is barred in the State of Rhode Island.

Patricia Poitevien, MD, MSc
Senior Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and InclusionDr. Poitevien also serves as the interim vice president for institutional equity and diversity at Brown University. She oversees the Office of Belonging, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Division of Biology and Medicine. She serves as a liaison between the Division, the University, and affiliated clinical partners to ensure that diversity and equity are high-level priorities and collaboratively works across organizational systems to implement effective policies and initiatives. Dr. Poitevien is also an associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Thomas Roberts, PhD
Dr. Roberts oversees the Division’s strategic plan as it relates to faculty and research in the Program in Biology including faculty recruitment, promotion, and tenure, postdoctoral training and program development, allocation of space, and the Division’s efforts to increase Brown’s scientific impact. He oversees the Office of BioMed Postdocs and Early Career Programs. He is a professor of ecology, evolution, and organismal biology and his research focuses on understanding muscle physiology with modern approaches in functional morphology and biomechanics.

Sharon Rounds, MD
Dr. Rounds is program director/principal investigator of the Advance-Center for Translational Research and works to support the translation of research into clinical application. She oversees the Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG). She is also a professor of medicine and of pathology and laboratory medicine and practices pulmonology and critical care medicine at the Providence VA Medical Center.

Katherine Smith, PhD
Senior Associate Dean of Biology EducationDr. Smith provides leadership, oversight, and guidance for undergraduate and graduate educational offerings within the Division’s Program in Biology. She directs five units: Office of Biology Undergraduate Education; the Office of Biology Graduate Studies; the Multidisciplinary Teaching Laboratories (MDL); the Section of Biology Education in the Medical Sciences Academic Unit; and, with Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education B. Star Hampton, the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME). Dr. Smith is also the co-director of the Division’s Planetary Health Initiative and an associate professor of medical science.
